Nomination ferlegton offered. Nov. 65.

The undersigned take leave to bring to your favorable consideration, Mr. Francis Krasole, Porter, with a view to his being considered for the approaching competitive examinatione for appointments to the Civil Service in the East.
It's father, the Rev. John Scott Portie, has been for more than thirty years one of the Joint Pastors of the Oldest Congregation Protestant Dissenters in Belfast.
And is held in the highest estimation and respect not only by his Congregation, but by the Community generally. Mr. Porter has also discharged for many years the duties of Professor of Hebrew and Oriental Languages, and of Biblical Criticism for their Religious Body to which he is attached.
The young man's uncle, Mr. William Portin, has been for more than five and twenty years, Attorney General at the Cape of Good Hope, where he has discharged his important duties so as to gain the warmest esteem and regard of the inhabitants, and, we have reason to believe, so as to prove of great benefit to the Colony.
The Candidate himself, Mr. F. K. Porter, has received a liberal education at the hands of his father and in Queen's College, Belfast, and, as his College Certificate will testify, he has shown a peculiar aptitude for the acquisition of languages. We believe him – and some of us have known him from Childhood — to be a promising young man of integrity, sound principle, and more than average ability.
